All rights reserved. http://theusgenweb.net/copyright.htm http://theusgenweb.net/la/lafiles.htm ======================================================================= NOTE: If a Photo is available for an obituary record, a reference note will be included with the record. =========================================================== Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 21, 2010, at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church for Marlene Perry, 75, the former Marlene Mary Brunet, who died Sunday, October 17, 2010, at 7 p.m. at Courtyard Manor Nurse Care Center in Lafayette. Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Catholic Church, will officiate at the services, assisted by David Harris, deacon. Altar servers will be Stephen and Thomas Brunet. Readers will be Stephen and David Brunet. Musical selections will be sung by Ron Moreau, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ and Joshua Stutes on the trumpet. Ms. Perry, born Dec. 8, 1934, in Port Arthur, Texas, grew up in Basile and lived the majority of her adult life in Carencro and Lafayette. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Church and a member of Bone Mort Society, St. Anne Society and the Ladies Altar Society. She was a third-order Franciscan. Marlene was very devoted to God, her family, and her Catholic faith. She was a lifelong, prayerful, humble, and faithful servant of the Lord, many times leading her fellow nursing home residents in saying the rosary. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. The family thanks the staffs of Courtyard Manor Nurse Care Center, Hospice of Acadiana, and Lafayette General Medical Center for their kindness in the care of Marlene. The family also sincerely thanks Marlene's best friend and roommate at Courtyard Manor, Leota Francois, for her devotion and care. Survivors include one daughter, Ellen Benson and her husband, Rick, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Kenneth Perry and his wife, Anne, of Patterson; five sisters, Esther Arceneaux and her husband, Robert, of Lafayette, Diane Moore and her husband, Larry, of Spruce Pine, N.C., Anne Broussard and her husband, Paul, of Erath, Christine Stutes of Carencro, and Carolyn Harris and her husband, David, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; three brothers, David Brunet and his wife, Pam, of Hot Springs, Ark., Stephen Brunet and his wife, Danette, of Denham Springs, and Thomas Brunet of Savannah, Ga.; a son-in-law, Eddie Tarpley of Pollack; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nalence Brunet and the former Jeanne Ethel Zammit; and her daughter, Margaret Tarpley. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and continue from 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Pallbearers will be Rick Benson, Robert Arceneaux Jr., Anthony Brunet, Jason Stutes, Joseph Zanetti and Justin Robin.
