She departed from this life at age 97, on Oct 12, 2010 at 4 a.m. at the Magnolia Estates Nursing Home in Lafayette. Mrs. Wimberly had previously arranged to donate her body to the Tulane Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Carencro on Sat. Oct. 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. Mrs. Wimberly, a native of Loureauville, married James Robert Wimberly in 1937 and lived in Franklin until Mr. Wimberly's death in 1972. She resided in Carencro until her death. Mrs. Wimberly is survived by two daughters, Barbara Sorrel of New Iberia, and Gwendolyn Latiolais and husband, Harry, of Opelousas; one son, Robert Wimberly and wife, Elise, of Arnaudville; four grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one sister May LeBlanc. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Herman Gesser; one sister Mildred Kern; one son-in-law and two grandchildren. ===================
