Fr. Steve LeBlanc will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum. A gathering of family and friends will be held today, Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., with the Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Mrs. Gaspard passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Lafayette General Medical Center. Eula Mae Perez Gaspard was born Dec. 20, 1936, on Hope Plantation in Jeanerette to Vedia Stanley Perez and Fedora Owens Perez. Her family moved to Adeline, and later to New Iberia when she was 20. Early in her life, she worked as a seamstress with Broussard's Mens and Boys, Morgan and Lindsey, and the Franklin Dept. Store. Mrs. Gaspard was also a homemaker who loved spending time with family and friends. She possessed an untiring love for her children. She was fascinated with beautiful flowers. Eula Mae firmly believed in the "Man upstairs," and had immense faith in Jesus Christ. She absolutely loved children. Her love of cooking and the cooking channel led to the publishing of her own cookbook, "Eula Mae's Home Cooking, Cajun Style Recipes." Many wonderful meals were shared and enjoyed by family and friends. She will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed dearly. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Donald Ray Gaspard of New Iberia; her daughters, Priscilla Gaspard of New Iberia, Fedora Boudreaux and husband, Brennan, of Patterson, Mona Mendoza and husband, Lawrence, of New Iberia, Joan Gaspard of Scott, and Dale Newman and husband, Kevin, of Iota; a stepdaughter, Tammy Hammons and husband, Jimmy, of New Iberia; nine grandchildren, Richard Darby, Madeline Darby, Brennan Michael Boudreaux, Hannah Boudreaux, Aaron Johnson, Darryan Johnson, Alex Mendoza, Christopher Newman and Abigail Newman; a brother, Minus Perez and wife, JoAnn, of St. Martinville; and her best friend, Lydia Broussard. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vedia and Fedora Perez; and a brother, John Perez. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Mendoza, Brennan Boudreaux, Kevin Newman, Brennan Michael Boudreaux, Aaron Johnson and John Allen Darby.
