Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2010/sm1012.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Claude Joseph Barras, Sr., 67, born in Algiers, Louisiana but a long time resident of Morgan City passed away in Gibson Wednesday, December 22, 2010 surrounded by his family. Claude was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping and all the activities that are associated to the outdoors. He loved his family and enjoyed teaching his sons and grandchildren the ways of a sportsman. He was a master mechanic and worked many years for Louisiana Machinery until his retirement this year. He is survived by three sons: Claude, Jr. and his wife Missy, Rodney and his wife Tara, and Shane Barras all of Gibson; a daughter Dwana and her husband Daniel Ellis of Oklahoma; three brothers Preston, Jr., Randy and Lonnie Barras; and a sister Elanore Roberts of Paulina, Louisiana; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Claude is preceded in death by his parents Preston Oscar and Evelyn Forsyth Barras; his second wife Katie Mire Barras; and a great-grandchild Kailey Chavis. Visitation is to be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. continuing Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home Chapel. A service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Claude will be laid to rest in the Beau Pre' Memorial Park in Jeanerette. ===================
