MARCUM, KAREN WHITNEY BURNETT 

Karen Whitney Burnett Marcum passed away after a long battle with cancer on 
Friday morning, December 10, 2010, at her son's home in Prairieville, at the age 
of 68.

She was a native of Houma, one-time resident of Morgan City, and recent resident 
of Prairieville.

Karen is survived by her dearly beloved husband of 20 years, Donald Marcum; her 
daughter, Kelly Burnett Muniz; her sons, Darin Burnett and Ricky Burnett; her 
stepsons, Tim Marcum and Tyler Marcum; her sister, Mary Beth Whitney Tate; her 
brother, Leo Whitney Jr.; and six wonderful grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Whitney Sr.; her mother, Marianne 
Bueche Whitney; and her brother, David Whitney.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday, December 17, 
beginning at 9 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 15208 Hwy 73, 
Prairieville, with a funeral Mass following at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the 
Poor, Holy Family Home, 5300 Chester Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19143-4993, 215-729-
