A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, January 31, 2011, at 2:00 PM at 
the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin for Mr. Sidgy Paul Benoit, 
88, a native of Baldwin, longtime former resident of Jeanerette and a resident 
of New Orleans for the past seven years, who passed away Thursday, January 27, 
2011, at 10:10 PM at Iberia Extended Care Hospital in New Iberia.

Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Gregory Cormier will 
officiate the services.

Mr. Benoit was a graduate of Hanson Memorial School. He was a veteran of the 
United States Coast Guard, having served during World War II, a member of the 
American Legion Post 26 of Jeanerette, the VFW Post 8150 of Jeanerette, and was 
retired from Continental Oil Company after 32 years of dedicated service. He was 
an avid baseball fan, having pitched in the semi-pros in Pittsburgh, as well as 
on numerous local teams. He also loved to hunt and fish.

Survivors include his four children, Sidgy P. Benoit, Jr. and his wife, Pamela, 
of Franklin, Gladys Benoit Smith and her husband, Sterling, of New Orleans, 
Wedna A. Benoit of Houston, and Charles A. Benoit of Jeanerette; three brother, 
Leroy Benoit of Jeanerette, Dave Benoit of Broussard, and William Benoit of 
Avery Island; two sisters, Theresa Bourleia of Franklin, and Drucilla Hebert 
Bailey of Thibodaux; six grandchildren, Crystal M. Benoit, Sidgy P. Benoit III, 
Decca R. Benoit, Samuel P. Benoit, Charles J. Benoit and his wife, Jennifer, and 
Dwayne A. Benoit and his wife, Abigail; and three great granddaughters, Kaylin, 
Kelsi, and Rebecca.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Abadie Benoit; his parents, Neville 
Pierre Benoit and Louise Hebert Benoit; and one brother, Louis Benoit.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at the Sacred Heart of 
Jesus Catholic Church from 12:00 PM until Mass time, with the rosary being 
prayed at 1:00 PM.
