Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2011/sm1101.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 1:00 PM at St. Jules Catholic Church in Franklin for Mr. John Scelfo, Sr., a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, who passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at 2:30 PM at Franklin Foundation Hospital. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Thomas Vu will officiate the services. Mr. Scelfo worked in the family business, Frank Scelfo & Sons, with his father and brothers until he retired. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ruby Bourgeois Scelfo of Franklin; eight children, Nancy Comeaux of Patterson, Pat Terrebonne and her husband, Glenn, of Franklin, John "Bubba" Scelfo, Jr. and his wife, Francine, of Franklin, Kathy Mayon and her husband, Dennis, of New Iberia, Daniel Scelfo of Franklin, Kenny Scelfo, Sr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Franklin, Wendy Collette and her husband, Paul, of Franklin, and MaryAnn Trosclair and her husband, Jerry, of Franklin; one brother, Anthony Scelfo and his wife, Shirley,of Franklin; one sister, Sarah Campbell and her husband, Harold, of Bayou Vista; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Scelfo, Sr. and Sarah Incavido Scelfo; one son, David Scelfo; three brothers, Frank Scelfo, Jr., Salvador Scelfo, and Camille "Tut" Scelfo; and one son-in-law, Richard Comeaux. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, January 20, at St. Jules Catholic Church from 10:00 Am until Mass time. Pallbearers will be Ben Fields, Kenny Scelfo, Jr., Nicholas Mayon, Christopher Mayon, Marcus Rineholt, and Jerry Trosclair, Jr. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Scelfo's caregivers, Gwen, Cindy, and Denise, as well as to Dr. McPherson and the staff of Franklin Foundation Hospital.
