The Lord called him home on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, in Lafayette, with his family at his side. He was a resident of Franklin for 48 years. He and Goldie retired to Lafayette in 1995. While residing in Franklin he was a parishioner of The Catholic Church of Assumption. Upon retiring to Lafayette he became a parishioner of St. Alphonses Catholic Church of Maurice. He was employed by the City of Franklin as City Clerk. Among his many accomplishments, his proudest was coordinating the design, engineering and completion of the St. Mary Parish Peace Memorial Monument. He devoted five years to this project that he held so very dear to his heart, and was elated upon it's completion and dedication. After serving in the Navy, he felt his line of duty was a complete success seeing the Monument finished. He also had the pleasure of serving as an officer on many City and Parish Boards. He was also a member of the Krewe of Teche, where he reigned as King Querques XIX in 1991. He was an active member of V.F.W. Post 4201, and the American Legion Post 63. Harold never met a stranger, and could always be seen with a smile on his face. He lived life to the fullest. He was a hard, dedicated worker and lived by his motto in life, "An honest day's work for an honest day's pay". Harold was a loving son, husband, father, brother, Uncle, Brother-in-law, and Paw-Paw. Being a Paw-Paw is what he enjoyed the most. His greatest joy was to be surrounded by his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harold was blessed with children, Harry L. Thibodaux and his wife June H. Thibodaux of Lafayette, Ronnie Thibodaux and his wife Tana R. Thibodaux of Centerville, Harold P. Thibodaux, Jr. of Lafayette. One daughter Pattie T. Theriot and her husband Mike Theriot of Lafayette. Paw Paw will be missed by his six grandchildren, Rebecca T. Hernandez and her husband Ryan Hernandez of Lafayette, David Thibodaux and his wife Emily R. Thibodaux of Lafayette, Neil Thibodaux and his wife Tobee D. Thibodaux of Centerville, Jeannie T. Segura and her husband Parrish Segura of Centerville, Stephen Theriot and his wife Dawn S. Theriot of Lafayette, and Stephanie Theriot and her fiancˇ Kyle Rose of Lafayette. Six Great Grandchildren, Hunter, Lauren & Caroline Hernandez, Ali Theriot, Gracie Segura and Luke Thibodaux. He is also survived by one sister Ruth T. Chauvin, and numerous nieces and nephews will also miss him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Naquin Thibodaux, infant daughter Mary Jewel Thibodaux, his parents, Emile Thibodaux and Elda Daigle Thibodaux, four brothers, Clarence, E.J., Roy, and Milton Thibodaux, and one sister Una T. Poinbeouf. A gathering of family and friends will be held at The Church of Assumption, in Franklin on Friday, January 7th, 10AM-1PM. Father Lloyd Beniot will officiate a Rosary of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. and a Mass at 1 p.m. Following mass, it is Harold's wish for Military Honors to be held at the St. Mary Parish Peace Memorial located in Eastwood Park. Interment will follow in the mausoleum at the Franklin Cemetery. Bringing their Dad and Grandfather to his final resting place will be his sons Ronnie Thibodaux, and Harold Thibodaux, Jr., his grandsons, David Thibodaux, Neil Thibodaux, and Stephen Theriot, and his son-in-law Mike Theriot. Honorary Pallbearers are his son Harry Thibodaux, grandsons, Ryan Hernandez, Parrish Segura, Kyle Rose, and members of the Franklin V.F.W. Post 4201 and American Legion Post 63. ===================
