She was born in Napoleonville in 1922 to Fulton and Una Felterman, and grew up with her family in Patterson, where she attended local schools. She won a tennis scholarship to the University of Southwestern Louisiana and attended for one year, until she was old enough to enter the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in New Orleans. On graduating from nursing school, she chose to work in the public health system of St. Mary Parish, where she returned to live with her parents. In 1947 she married John Versaggi and dedicated the remainder of her life to her husband and family. She and her husband raised three children, first in Patterson and then from 1955 until the present in St. Augustine, Fla. Her beloved husband of 49 years died in 1996. Hon was active in the Cathedral Parish Guild and Altar Society for many years, and was known as an avid tennis player, volunteer coach, and fan. She later became known for her interest in bicycling and walking for fitness. She maintained membership in the Camellia Garden Club, and in the St. Augustine Historical Society. She and her husband were long time supporters of many historic preservation projects in the community. She is survived by her three children, Janis and her husband, Morton Williams, Judy and her husband, Bill Angyalfy, and John and his wife, Pam Morris Versaggi. She loved her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom have been very attentive to her all her life. She is also survived by her devoted brother, F. C. "Butch" Felterman Jr. and his wife, Sylvia. A traditional Catholic funeral service is planned. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with prayers being said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel in St. Augustine, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery.
