Mike Arnaud officiating. Entombment will follow at Beau Pre Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. Saturday until service time. A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Saturday. A native of Krotz Springs and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Champagne passed away at 6:12 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Champagne was employed with A.V. Allain & Sons, Inc. for 30 years as a foreman. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, and hunting and fishing. He loved dancing to Cajun French music on Saturday nights with his wife and watching western movies with his family. He will be missed dearly by all that knew him. Mr. Champagne is survived by his wife, of 46 years, Eula David Champagne of New Iberia; one daughter, Denise Marie Champagne of Baldwin; and one son, Ricky J. Champagne and his wife, Tammie, of Gainesville, Texas; four grandchildren, Jonathon Scott Moore, Jennifer Nicole "Nikki" Moore, Lacy Jade Maria "Peidot" Champagne and Lexi "Sweetpea" Voorhies. He is also survived by two sisters, Frances C. Degladon of Opelousas and Vivalyn C. LeJeune and her husband, Craig, of Eunice and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Fabeulah Barras Champagne and two sisters, Patricia C. Shoen and Edna C. Luke. Pallbearers will be Bob LeJeune, Keith Luke, Ames Belaire Jr., Shane LeJeune, Garland Barras, David Voorhies, Abby Trosclair and Allen Davis. The family of Mr. Champagne would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Angel Care Hospice and AAA Home Health for all of their excellent and compassionate care.
