Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2011/sm1102.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== The beloved Jerry Glynn Cornes passed away on February 14, 2011 at 9:00 p. m. surrounded by his loved ones. "Glynn" had the biggest heart and would help anyone so it is only fitting the Lord called him home on Valentine's Day. Glynn was a very successful businessman in the oilfield industry. People were drawn to him by his dynamic and loving personality. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be greatly missed. An active member of the St. Mary Shrine club he supported the organization in their fund raising that helps the Shrine Children's Hospital and he also served in the National Guard. Glynn is survived by his five children: Monty Cornes and his wife Debbie of Gonzales, Melissa Maraist and husband Rick of Harahan, Cheryl Cornes and Kirk Legendre of Lafayette, Greg Cornes and his wife Victoria of Hammond, Steven Cornes and his wife Tiffany of Bayou L'Ourse, twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild, his only surviving sibling Bob Cornes and his wife Marilyn of Thibodaux, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews from the Cornes, Eaves and Dupont families. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thaddeus Eskel Cornes and Nina Eaves Cornes Wright, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Cornes and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Eaves, sisters Beverly Cornes and Sue Varnam, his brother Kenny Cornes, the mother of his children Barbara Dupont Cornes and his granddaughters Brittany Maraist and Natalie Gardner. The family wishes to thank Teche Regional Medical Center, Lafayette General Rehab Hospital and a special thank you to all the staff at Magnolia Estates and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for all their love and support. A time of visitation at Hargrave Funeral Home will be Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 6:00 p. m. to 9:00 p.m. and continuing Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon with a service of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. Glynn will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Hargrave Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. ===================
