Johnny Lee Hester Sr. passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas. Johnny was born April 17, 1930, in Claireville, Texas to Buster and Ruby Ford Hester. Mr. Hester was a US Army Ranger and served his country during the Korean War. He worked for Trunkline Gas Company. Mr. Hester was very active in numerous organizations which included Beeville Masonic Lodge #261, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, Al Amin Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite of Free Masonary, Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas, CASHAN Order of Supreme Council M.O.V.P.E.R., and Beeville Chapter-Eastern Star #432. He belonged to the Church of Christ in Beeville, Texas. Johnny married Doris Jean Perkins March 14, 1953 in Beeville, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Doris of Beeville; sons, Johnny Lee Hester Jr. and wife, Chris, of Lafayette and John David Hester of Keenesaw, Georgia; daughter, Patricia Diane Smith of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Brooke Elizabeth Strait, Amy Catherine Hester, Chad Alan Guidry, Austin Hester, Evan Hester and Adrian Hester; great grandchildren, Cooper Strait, Brady Hester and Tristan Guidry; and a sister Ruby Joyce Murrell of Tuleta, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday, February 10, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Galloway & Sons Chapel, with an Eastern Star Service to begin at 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 14 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, at 1:45 p.m., with Full Military Honors.
