Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2011/sm1102.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at 2:00 PM at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin for Mr. Elton J. "Tom" Mire, Sr., 87, a native of Bayou Chene and a longtime resident of Franklin, who passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011, at 8:17 PM at the Franklin Foundation Hospital. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery in Centerville. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services. Mr. Tom was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Franklin Post 63 and the Marine Corps League. Survivors include three sons, Elton J. "Tommy" Mire, Jr. and his wife, Glenda, of Baldwin, Wayne Mire and his wife, Julie, of Franklin, Kenny "Dago" Mire of New Iberia; Madeline M. Businelle and her husband, Larry, of Franklin, and Donna M. Goulas and her husband, Jeff, of New Iberia; his former wife, Doris Bourque Mire of Franklin; two brothers, Ted Mire of Centerville and Terry Mire of Franklin; two sisters, Janice Arthur of Lafayette and Betty Brandt of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Theresa Chauvin Mire of Franklin; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Mire, Sr.; his parents, Robert Lance Mire and Lelia Chauvin Mire; five brothers, Herbert Mire, Charles Mire, Lanny Mire, Nelson Mire, and L. J. Mire; one sister, Vivian "Vee" Mire. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Ibert's Mortuary on Wednesday, February 16, from 11:00 AM until dismissal time at 1:30 PM.
