Drexler, Sr., age 80, a native of Glencoe, La., and a resident of Passaic, NJ., died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic, NJ. Visitation will be Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charenton, La., from 9:00 AM until funeral at 11:00 AM. Rosary will be at 10:15 AM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. On August 11, 1930, Irving John Drexler, Sr. was the second of five sons born to Rivers and Eliza Notto Drexler. He was raised in the rural community of Glencoe, Louisiana. On October 16, 1949, he married Clara Bryant. This union was blessed with eight children: four boys and four girls. As a resident of Louisiana, he worked for the Morton Salt Company. In 1959, Irving moved to Passaic, New Jersey where he worked until retirement for Clayton Containers of Harrison, New Jersey. He loved sports especially baseball and boxing. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends. He was well known for his stylish dress and outgoing personality. On Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic, New Jersey, Irving transitioned to his eternal home. He leaves to remember his life: three sons: Irving, Jr. (Magdalene) Drexler of Baldwin, LA; Charles Drexler of Ypslanti, Michigan; and Donald Drexler of Houston, TX; five daughters: Beverly Spencer of Baton Rouge, LA; Brenda Drexler of Macon, Georgia; Barbara Drexler of Glencoe, LA; Gail Lancelin (Wallace, Sr.) of Baldwin, LA; and Cheryl Broussard (Harold) of Franklin, LA; four brothers; Clarence Drexler, Sr. of Glencoe, LA; Harold Drexler, Sr., of New Iberia, LA; and Charles (Albertha) Drexler of Jeanerette, LA; his play daughter Gloria Sanders (Dixie) of Patterson, New Jersey; a maternal aunt, Mary Leblanc, of New Orleans, LA; a paternal aunt, Daisy Broussard of Four Corners, LA; many friends from Passaic including Willie Mitchell; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other family and friends. Irving was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Rivers Drexler, a grandson, Gary Paul and a son Craig Drexler. ===================
