He is survived by daughter Peggy Eaton and husband John, of Radford, VA; sons Edward L. Meyer, III and wife, Donna of Morgan City, and Jim Meyer of Springfield, IL: grandsons Marc Eaton and wife, Diann; Kent Eaton and wife, Renee' of Christiansburg, VA; Brad Denham, Jon Meyer and Alex Meyer of Morgan City; granddaughter Melissa Meyer Hanson and husband, Harvey of Carterville, IL; and great-granddaughter, Eliza and great-grandson, Neal Eaton of Christiansburg, VA; great-granddaughter, Samatha, and great-grandson, Nolan Henson of Carterville, IL; and great-granddaughter, Britney Denham of Morgan City; brother-in-law, Ernie Meyer, niece, Betty Meyer-Smith, and nephew, Mike Bodine, all of St. Louis, MO. Mr. Meyer was a Disabled Veteran serving in World War II, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a wonderful High School teacher and was awarded the Ford Foundation National Teacher of the Year. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; an avid gardener and traveler to distant places. He was a friend to all and will be sorely missed by family and friends. He was predeceased by wife Gertrude Hartin Meyer and grandson, T. Scott Eaton. The family would like to thank his care givers sisters Myrna and Mary. Also we would like to thank the staff at Maison Jardin for all their love and support. A memorial service will be held at Maison Jardin Sunday, March 13, at 1 pm. The family will receive friends following the service. ===================
