Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2011/sm1104.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin for Lloyd "Preacher" Breaux, 86, a native of Franklin, former longtime resident of New Orleans, and a resident of Folsom for the past 5 years, who passed away peacefully in the late morning on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at his home, surrounded by family following a lengthy and courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services. Lloyd "Preacher" was a World War II veteran of the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division, parachuting into Normandy on D-Day, and participating in the Market Garden Campaign in Holland, and in the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne. He was awarded two Purple Hearts. He also served as a translator in France. After the war he went to work for Shell Oil Co. where he dedicated 38 years of service until his retirement in 1986. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Bobby Sinitiere Breaux of Folsom; six children, Denise B. Ivary and her husband, Eric, of Folsom, Mark Breaux and his wife, Susan, of New Orleans, Anne B. Leon and her husband, Lago, of New Orleans, Kay B. Livaudais and her husband, Marc, of Metairie, Barry Breaux and his wife, Laura, of Mandeville, and Laura B. Buras and her husband, Douglas, of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Gertrude Oubre of New Iberia, Shirley LeBlanc of New Iberia, and Hazel Huffman of Franklin; and 11 grandchildren, Chase, Madeleine, Robert, Charles, Brandon, Brigitte, Caroline, Elizabeth, Grace, Stephen, and Ellen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Armand Breaux and Claudia Dugas Breaux; four brothers, Daniel, Chester, Jessie, and Olden Breaux; and one sister, Luneze Robicheaux. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, April 4, at Ibert's Mortuary, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM, and again on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until Mass time.
