Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Lee Chapel AME in Morgan City, from 9:00 AM until funeral at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Morgan City Cemetery. Mildred leaves to cherish her memory; her stepmother, Helen McKenzie of Maryland; three sons, Hilliard (Audrey) Smith, III of Navarre Beach, FL., Johnny Carbin, Jr. and Clemous (Jina) Mingo both of Morgan City; five daughters, Carol James (Willard Francis), Mary (Landolph) Prevost, Jr., and Melanie Gobert all of Morgan City, Naomi (James) Perry, Sr. of Patterson and Carolyn (Keith) Guienz of Franklin; two stepdaughters, Katherine Young and Maxine Young both of Lynwood, Ca; four brothers, Merill Riou, Sr. of Key West, Fl., Roger Nelly of Washington, DC., Lawrence (Orelia) deGraffenaried of Omaha, NE and Elliott McKenzie, Jr. of New Orleans, La; seven sisters, Anita Smith of Washington, DC., Selanie Jeanne (James) Ealey, Awilda Richardson and Dena (Kirk) Zylanz all of Maryland, Sandra Herndon of Bronx, NY., Olympia (Sammy) Anderson of Omaha, NE., and Gail deGraffenaried of Plantation, Fl; three goddaughters, Marva Lee May of Patterson, Sharon Jones of Fort Lauderdale, Fl and Linda Hepburn of Key West, Fl., two godsons,Gregory Carbin, Jr., and Damond (Monie) Davis; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her father, Elliott Eugene McKenzie, Sr., her mother, Naomi Saunders deGraffenaried, husband, Johnny "Mickey" Carbin, Sr., a son, Lawrence "Larry" Smith, two grandsons, Lanier D.
