Mr. Curtis Preston Mire, 86, a native of Bayou Plaquemine, Louisiana, and a 
long-time resident of Morgan City, left this life Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 
Ochsner Foundation Hospital where he was surrounded by his family.

Husband to Antoinette Fieda Mire, he fathered two daughters and two sons. 
Beginning as a mechanic, primarily in the marine industry, he established The 
Crankshaft Company in 1958 and became a successful businessman. He was also 
involved in and owned several businesses in the area. A member of Atchafalaya 
Savings & Loan Board of Directors, he also established himself as a founding 
member of the Petroleum Club of Morgan City. 
Curtis, who at one time was involved in boat racing, won several trophies as a 
driver.

Curtis is survived by his wife Antoinette; two sons Kurt Mire and his wife Lola 
of Katy, Texas, and Ross Mire of Morgan City; two daughters Julie Bourgeois and 
her husband Roland of Morgan City, and Marcia Bradley and her husband Timothy of 
Lafayette; a brother Jerry Mire of Morgan City; sisters Ruth Ashley of Franklin 
and Joyce Percle of Stephensville; twelve grandchildren and eight great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore Mire and Hattie Lang Mire, a 
sister Jane Schultz, and a granddaughter Robbie Lynette.

A time of reflection and remembrance will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011, 
from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Mass of 
Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. 
Curtis will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery immediately following 
the church service.
