GIRARD, RAOUL " POP", SR.
April 18, 1927 - May 17, 2011

Mr. Raoul 'Pop" Girard, Sr. 84, born in Duson, Louisiana and a long time 
resident of Morgan City passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Patterson Health 
Care surrounded by his loving family.

Raoul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. A 
veteran of World War II, he loved watching his children and grandchildren play 
sports, hunting, fishing and gardening. Raoul especially enjoyed family 
gatherings for whatever occasion. 

Raoul is survived by six sons Russell Girard and his wife Peggy of Kaplen, Micky 
Girard and his wife Sandra of Irving, Tx, Tracy Girard and his wife Hope of 
Carencro, Raoul Girard Jr. and his wife Danette of Morgan City, Keith Girard and 
his wife Lynette of Bayou Vista, and L. J. Girard and his wife Heather of Bayou 
Vista; one daughter Linda Gaspard and her husband Freddie of Kaplen and a step 
daughter Marsha Ronsonet and her husband Danny of Delcambre; three brothers 
Frank, Minus and Ronny Girard and a sister Shorty Theriot; sixteen grandchildren 
and ten great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Leus and Ella Miguez Girard; his wife of 
45 years Sydney-Lee Justilian Girard, one brother and four sisters.
A time of reflection and remembrance will be held Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 
6:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. at Hargrave Funeral Home and will continue Friday, 
May 20, 2011 from 8:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. a Mass of Christian Burial will be 
held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista at 2:00 P.M.

Mr. Girard will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery with Military Honors 
provided by The East St. Mary Funeral Squad.

Hargrave Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
