Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2011/sm1105.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Anthony Samuel Morella, Sr., 88, born on August 9, 1922, died at his residence in Patterson, at 9:15 p.m. on May 18, 2011 surrounded by family. The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson, with a rosary being prayed at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 20, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Donovan LabbŽ will be the celebrant, with Father Angelo Cremaldi co-celebrating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Morella is survived by his daughter, Linda Morella Thomas and her husband, Ogden Thomas, Jr., of Patterson; three sons, Joseph Peter "J.P." Morella and his wife, Mary Ordogne Morella, of Berwick, Anthony "Chip" S. Morella, Jr. and his wife, Mary Lou Resignola Morella, of Berwick, and Robert J. Morella and his wife, Leslie Rees Morella, of Lafayette; two of his brothers, Joseph S. Morella and his wife, Tonia Morella, of Arizona and Dr. John R. Morella and his wife, Charlene Morella, of Lafayette; and by a sister-in-law, Mary Lena Morella of Patterson He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Michele Thomas Boustany and her husband, Ron Boustany; Scott Thomas and his wife, Dominque Besse Thomas; Morgan and Murray Morella; Anthony III, Nicholas, Catherine Morella Arceneaux and her husband, Matt Arceneaux, Jennifer, Julie Ann, Alaina, and Mary Madeleine Morella; Lauren Morella Rudick and her husband, G. W. Rudick, Michael, Anne Marie, Stephen and Claire Morella; and five great-grandchildren, Mary Grace, Sarah and Thomas Boustany, and Ross and Rhett Thomas; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Armato Morella; his father, Joseph S. Morella, Sr.; his mother, Lena Perry Morella; his brother, Samuel "Sam" Morella; and his sister, Sadie Morella Guarisco. Mr. Morella a lifelong resident of Patterson, owned and operated Morella Cleaners for 52 years and residential rental properties. He was active in local politics having served as an alderman for the Town of Patterson for 16 years beginning in 1958 and of which 8 years he served as Mayor Pro-Tem. Mr. Morella also served as Magistrate for the Patterson Mayor's Court for twelve (12) years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson having served as an usher for more than fifty (50) years and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Acting as pallbearers are Odgen Thomas, Jr., Scott Thomas, Murray Morella, Michael Morella, Stephen Morella and Joe Morella. Acting as honorary pallbearers are Anthony S. Morella, III and Nicholas Morella. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to all of Mr. Morella's care givers for their kindness, compassion and love.
