Naquin was called home on Saturday, May 28, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Minnesota and long time resident of Morgan City. She was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed singing in the choir, knitting, sewing, dancing and reading. She was noted for her custom designed Afghans, specifically her LSU Tiger afghan and her Crimson Tide afghan. She was a Veteran of the United States Navy, a member of the Catholic Daughters, VFW Auxiliary, and past member of the Krewe of Galatea. She also was a long time member of AARP having served on the Board of Directors for many years; eleven of those years Elaine served as Recording Secretary. She was Queen of the AARP Mardi Gras in 2006. Elaine was employed with National Supply Company from 1959 through 1982 at which time she retired as office manager of the Morgan City Office. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Therol R. Naquin of Morgan City, her daughter Barbara McCleary and her husband Pat of Morgan City, her daughter Gwen McHugh of Mobile, Alabama, and six grandchildren: Mary Elaine McCleary Brooks of Morgan City, Jimmy and Jason McCleary of Lafayette, Louisiana, Keeley McCleary of Houma, Louisiana, Micah McHugh Morano of Richmond, Virginia and Marcie McHugh of Mobile, Alabama, nine great-grandchildren, Patrick and Katelyn Elaine Brooks, Mac, Hayden, Dylan, Ethan and J.P. McCleary, Hank and Ford Morano. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters Shirley Bitterly and Dorothy Bannister of Glendale, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Edith Bannister, her brother Gilbert Bannister, Jr. and a sister Jean Ayers. The family requests that visitation be observed Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 9:00 A.M. until time of services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Greg Fratt officiating. Burial will be at the Morgan City Mausoleum with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, P. O. Box 632, Moran City, Louisiana 70381. The family wants to thank Morgan City Health Care Center's entire staff, Dr. Robert Blereau and the sixth floor staff at Teche Regional Medical Center for their loving care. ===================
