"Honey" Simon, 87, born in Kaplan, LA; and a resident of Morgan City, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Teche Regional Medical Center. He served his country in The United States Army and was a proud veteran of WWII. John loved his family dearly and cherished every moment he could spend with them; he also enjoyed being outdoors tending to his garden. "Honey" is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Bernice Simon of Morgan City; two daughters Gwen Morell and her husband Jay, and Cynthia Broussard and her husband Jerry all of Morgan City; his grandchildren Shelly Sykes, Mark Morell, Ashlee Broussard and Brad Broussard; his great-grandchildren Brett, Jillian, Riley, Kameron, Grant. John is preceded in death by his parents Leodise and Rosa Thibodeaux Simon; his brother PIerre Aglace Simon; and his sister Dula Faulk. A time of remembrance and reflection will be observed Thursday, June 2, 2011, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Hargrave Funeral Home; and will continue Friday, June 3, 2011 from 9:00 am until dismissal at 10:30am, at Hargrave Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The East St. Mary Parish Funeral Squad will conduct full Military graveside Honors. John will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Francis (Chuck) Metz and the nurses on the sixth floor at Teche Regional. Also special thanks to the staff and nurses at Morgan City Health Care Center. ===================
