Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Fr. Bill Crumley of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charenton will officiate the services. Marie Cole was given her wings on the 6th day of month (May) 2011. Her final days were spent with Barbara, Elaine & Gene by her side caring for her. Marie was born to Charlie Cole & Alozea Guidry on July 2nd 1916 in Cecilia, Louisiana. Raised in Franklin Louisiana, it was there that she met the love of her life, Julian Verret who she wed in February of 1933. Together, Julian & Marie raised their four children. Marie was a caregiver since very young. She ended her academics early to care for her dying mother then her siblings so her father could continue to work and care for their family. Even after marrying, she carried for her sister and her nephew right along with her own children. No one would ever lack shelter, clothing, food or love around either her or Julian. Marie & Julian were known as "Mamaw & Papaw" to everyone who knew them. Marie is joining her family that has entered the gates of heaven before her, her parents, Charlie & Alozea Cole; her spouse, Julian Verret; her children, Julian Verret, Jr. and Betty Anne Verret; her siblings, Theo (and spouse Lorena), Wade (and spouse Julia), Will, Edwin, Wesley (and spouse Therese), and Mildred Cole; and her nephew, Walter Cole. Marie is survived by her children, Barbara (and spouse Gene) Broussard, Sr., and Elaine Graham; grandchildren, Penny (and spouse Bruce) Cox, Priscilla Dupuis, Raymond Julian (and spouse Sharon) Sauce, Christopher Shane (and spouse Misty) Verret, Michelle (and spouse Jamie) Wallace, Angela (and spouse William) Zartler, Gene (and spouse Michelle) Broussard, and Darla (and spouse Rocky) Clement; great grandchildren, Christopher Cox, Kimberly (and spouse Jude) Dunaway, Jessica (and spouse Al) Mikulskis, Jay Anthony Sauce, Racheal (and spouse Bryan) Bufkin, Josh (and spouse Rhoda) Dupuis, Christina (and spouse O.T.) Special thanks to Mrs. Terri Francis who became a part of the family in caring for Marie for many years as well as the team of Hospice Compassus in both Houston, Texas and Lafayette, Louisiana. Marie had sunshine in her smile and compassion in her touch. One could always find hope and courage just by looking in her beautiful blue eyes. Her laughter was a source of joy and her advice was always warm and wise. It was always known, from her lips to God's ear... Her presence will be profoundly missed and her spirit will live forever. A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday at Ibert's from 9:00 AM until time of service, with the rosary being prayed at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers will be Gene Broussard, Jr; Raymond Sauce, Tad Helms, Christopher Cox, Joshua Dupuis, and Shane Verret. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Cox and Gene P. Broussard, Sr. ===================
