Gautreaux Sr., 87, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Patterson Healthcare Center. Hewitt was a World War II Veteran who served as a Fireman 2nd Class in the United States Navy. He was an accomplished music teacher who played guitar with the legendary Fats Domino. He retired from the railroad and enjoyed spending his life with his family. "Goat" will be missed by all who knew him. Hewitt is survived by his wife, Elverda Vegas Gautreaux; two sons: Hewitt J. Gautreaux Jr. and his wife, Mathilda of Pierre Part and Cletus P. Gautreaux and his wife, Tacy of Winne, TX; one daughter, Carolyn Gautreaux Nimion of Morgan City; one sister, Stella Dalton of Morgan City; eight grandchildren: Ronnie, Troy, Hewitt III, Hannah, Jonathan, Brandon, Briana and Kayla; 6 great grandchildren: Tasha, Joseph, Summer, Logan, Raven and Leah and one great great- grandchild, Brice. Hewitt was preceded in death by his parents, Louis J. and Noelie Gautreaux; three brothers: Lester, Roswell and Edric Gautreaux and three sisters: Mildred Marshall, Mazy Martin and Gertrude Gautreaux. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson starting at 8am until 11am with a Memorial Mass following the visitation. Hewitt will be laid to rest with full military honors provided by the United Veterans League. ===================
