Inurnment will follow at St. Nicholas Mausoleum in Patoutville. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the church from 1 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lydia Cancer Association. A native of Franklin and longtime resident of Bayou Jack, Mrs. Lucas died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at 6:30 p.m., at her residence in Bayou Jack. The family would especially like to thank Heart of Hospice, the 2nd floor staff at Iberia Medical Center and her numerous friends for their loving care. She was assistant tax collector for the city of Franklin for 10 years. She enjoyed traveling and fishing, but nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Carol Messinger and husband, David, of New Iberia; Anna Goff and husband, Don, of Silsbee, Texas; and William S. Bill Lucas and wife, Claudia, of Youngsville; two brothers, Alton E. Anderson and wife, Carol Ann, of Rayne and Carl Anderson of Florida; her mother-in-law, Anna Lucas of Virginia; grandchildren, Kipper Messinger, Allison, Carly and Connor Goff, William Lucas and Abby Grimmett; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Lucas; parents, Alton E. "Happy" Anderson and Rosine Melancon Anderson and a brother, Richard Anderson.
