Nelson Rivera, a resident of Tampa Florida, passed away June 28, 2011 at the age 
of 72. 

Nelson was a retired US Army Veteran who proudly served his country for twenty-
two years. 

He is survived by two daughters, Nelsie Smith of Melbourne, Fl. , and Lina Solar 
and her husband James of Houma, his two brothers Louis and Edelmiro Rivera, and 
four sisters Virginia Caldwell , Neris Eachus ,Lillian Rivera, Digna Rivera. 
Nelson is also survived by three grandchildren, Joshua Doyle, Mercedes Solar, 
and Maelina Solar.

He is preceded in death by his parents Corina Marquinez and Vicente Rivera, his 
wife Delia Rivera and two grandchildren Maria Smith and Jourdan Doyle.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at St. Bernadette Church hall beginning 
at 1 pm until 2 pm. A mass of Christian burial will begin at 2 pm at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. 
Nelson will be laid to rest in the 
Morgan City Mausoleum. 

Graveside services will be conducted by the East St. Mary Veteran's Funeral 
Squad.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the charity of your 
choice.
