Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2011/sm1106.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Walter James Romero a resident of Bayou Vista and a native of Berwick passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Teche Regional Medical Center. Walter started his life on the water working on tug boats when he was 13 years old. He worked himself up to become a licensed Chief Engineer on various supply and diving boats after he left the United States Army. He continued working on the vessels until he became disabled. Walter enjoyed the outdoors fishing and spending time with friends and family. Walter is survived by his former spouse, Frances Graham of Bayou Vista; two sons: Joseph Romero and his wife, Catherine of Bradenton, FL and Travis Romero and his companion, Jennifer Woods of Bayou Vista; two daughters: Sarah Romero of West Virginia and Laura Romero of Seneca, South Carolina; one brother, Timothy Romero; his father, Walter James Romero Sr.; eight grandchildren and extended family. Walter was preceded in death by his mother, June Charpentier Collins; two brothers: Mark and Terry Romero; three sisters: Ruth Romero, Sandra Riddle and Wanda Theriot and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Visitation will be held at Twin City Funeral Home on Friday, June 10, 2011 beginning at 10am until 2pm with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stephens Catholic Church starting at 2:30pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:30pm at the funeral home. Walter will be laid to rest in the Berwick Cemetery. He will be laid to rest with full military honors provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad. ===================
