Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2011/sm1106.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Jesse Willard Simon, 69, a native of Kaplan and a resident of Patterson passed away, Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 8:06am at the Baton Rouge General. The family requests that visitation be observed Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 5pm to 8pm at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson with a rosary being prayed at 6pm. Visitation will resume Monday, June 27th at 10am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 27, 2011 at 11 am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson with Father Donovan LabbŽ officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Acting as pallbearers will be Lyle Brocato, Rodney Houston, Samuel Houston, Kevin Simon, Kade Simon, Kaleb Simon, Kole Simon, and Lawrence Welch III. Acting as honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Michel and Rick Matte. After serving as a Marine he received his Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering from Nicholls State University. Jesse retired from Marathon Oil in 1999 and spent his retirement years as a beloved school bus driver for St. Mary Parish Schools. He was a member of the American Legion and the KC's in Patterson. Jesse had many interests which included league bowling, being an avid sports fan and spending time with his wife. Jesse will be remembered by many for the countless years of coaching softball and baseball in the community. His love for his family was like no other and we were so very blessed to have him in our lives. Jesse is survived by his wife of 22 1/2 years, Brenda Thomas Simon of Patterson; his three daughters, Monique Simon Houston and her husband, Rodney, of Broussard, Angelena Swords Brocato and her husband, Lyle, of Patterson, and Calyn Lee Swords also of Patterson; his son, Kevin Paul Simon of Patterson; a sister, Brenda A. Simon of Baton Rouge; a sister-in-law, Pat Neal; four grandsons, Kade Simon, Kaleb Simon, Kole Simon, and Samuel Houston; one granddaughter, Lauren Houston and one expected grandchild, Baby Boy Brocato. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Lula Hebert Simon; a sister, Earline Simon Vail; a granddaughter, Katie Rose Simon and a nephew, Milton Joe Vail Jr. ===================
