Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2011/sm1107.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 1:00 PM at Ibert's Mortuary for Webster Joseph "Jay" Champagne, Jr., 73, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, who passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, at 1:37 AM at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana in Lafayette. Burial will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery. Father Gregory Cormier will officiate the services. Mr. Champagne was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post 4201. He was self-employed as a painter, having painted and wallpapered, as well as restored hardwood floors of many homes in the Franklin area. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Anna Mae Trosclair Champagne of Franklin; six children, Cheryl C. Sinnott and her husband Leo of Oklahoma City, OK, Sandra Champagne of Franklin, Darlene C. Denton and her husband Dale of Mountain Home, AR, Danny Champagne and his wife Denette of Franklin, Angela Champagne of Franklin, Dwayne Champagne of Franklin; two sisters, Evelyn "Tootsie" Ficarotto and her husband Zeke and Sherry "Teetsie" Mayon and her husband Aldon, all of Franklin; nine grandchildren, Gregory and Joanie Haydel, Heather Landry, Alaina Champagne, Jenny Howe, Rusty and Travis Denton, Broc Buckner and Camen Dooley; and four great grandchildren, Aidan and Hannah Landry, Ashton Walker, and Riley Denton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Webster Joseph Champagne, Sr. and Aria Aucoin Champagne. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, August 4, at Ibert's Mortuary from 10:00 AM until service time. Acting as pallbearers will be Danny Champagne, Broc Buckner, Camen Dooley, Merlin Trosclair, Dale Denton and Don Champagne. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to alleviate medical and funeral expenses. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. ===================
