She was the beloved daughter of the late August O. and Annie Borne Fournier. Jessie is survived by her brother, Beverly J. Fournier and his wife, Lorraine of Franklin, her sister, Frances F. Trahan and her husband P. J. of Gretna, and sister-in-law, Violet Fournier of Centerville. She was proceeded in death by her sisters, Gladys F. Abadie, of New Iberia, Isabelle F. Darce' and her husband O.J. of Baldwin, Marion F. Norris and her husband, Oliver, of Minden, Agnes F. Bradshaw and her husband C. W. of New Orleans, Joyce F. Fouquier and her husband Hilton of San Diego, CA., and her brother Gus Fournier, of Centerville. She is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews and their spouses and many great and great- great nieces and nephews. Miss Fournier began her teaching career in Des Allemands, LA in 1943. She taught thirteen years while attending Southwestern University in Lafayette during the summers to complete her degree in education. She returned to Franklin and taught in Baldwin for 2 yrs. then went to Laon, France (1958-59) to teach on an Air Force base. She was then on to Wiesbaden, Germany 1959-60 and then to Tachikawa, Japan 1960-1963. Upon returning to Franklin she taught in the St. Mary Parish School system until 1987. She taught at Foster Lower Elem., Willow St. Elem., and LaGrange. After retiring from the public school system she went on to teach ten years at West End Academy. Miss Fournier was a parishioner of Church of the Assumption Catholic Church, a member of the Franklin Garden Club, a former member of both the Ladies Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She was a Pink Lady at Franklin Foundation Hospital. She was an active participant in the Franklin Senior Center. She moved to Azalea Estate in New Iberia in June of 2007 where she enjoyed reading, dining out and making new friends. The family requests that visitation be observed Wednesday, July 20, 2011 from 9am until time of services at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin, with a rosary being prayed at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, July 20th at 11am at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin with Father Angelo Cremaldi officiating the services. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The St. Mary Parish Library, Alex P.
