She was 92, born in Church Point, Louisiana on April 19, 1919, and was a resident of Bayou Vista and Berwick, Louisiana for a majority of the past 42 years. A religious service for the immediate family occurred at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday July 20, 2011 at the Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City. Entombment will follow at the Morgan City Mausoleum. She is survived by her three children; John Dale and his wife Georgia, Chris and his wife Mary, Sarah and her husband Charles, 5 grand children and 8 great grand children. Verna was preceded in death by her husband Gerald W. "Bill" Harrell and her granddaughter Laura Elizabeth Harrell Anderson. She was a member of the St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She also belonged to the St. Bernadette Ladies Altar Society and to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Verna was a lifelong supporter of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The family would like to extend special thanks to Drs. Metz III, Lam, Michael Haydel and to Acadian Home Health and to Southern Care Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to a charity of your choice. Visitation will take place at Twin City Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 starting at 2pm until 3pm. A service will also be held during this time. She will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum. ===================
