Ms. Sobers was born Jan. 29, 1939, in Port Arthur, Texas, the daughter of Joseph H. Webster and Audrey Irene Thompson Webster. She was retired from the Clayton County School System and had been an educator for over 30 years. After her retirement she was a substitute teacher for the Carroll County School System, working in the Temple and Villa Rica school district. Ms. Sobers was of the Episcopal faith and had been a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Morgan City. Survivors include her children, Joseph H. Sobers of Morgan City, Elizabeth Kathryn Newman (Don) and Emma Kristen Sobers-Gilliam, of Villa Rica, Ga., Elyse Sobers-Rice (Bryan) of Villa Rica, Ga., Karen Farmer (Greg) of Morgantown, Ga., Betty Sobers-Crawely of Colonial Heights, Va., Edith Karlene Couch (Ronnie) of Newnan, Ga., Eric Keith Sobers of Newnan, Ga., and John Paul Sobers of Villa Rica, Ga.; her brothers, David Webster (Jane) and Cameron Webster (Linda Sue) of Morgan City; a sister, Carol Arcemont of Brandon, Miss.; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Edward Kenneth Sobers; and a daughter, Ellen Sobers Ring. In accordance with the family's wishes, the body was cremated following a private family viewing. A memorial service was held Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at 11 o'-clock at J. Collins Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Ga. The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the memorial service hour. ===================
