Born in Patterson on Jan. 21, 1919, she was 92 years young. A former longtime resident of New Orleans, she made Baton Rouge her home following Hurricane Katrina. She was educated in the St. Mary and Orleans Parish Public School systems. After working with her husband in a family pharmaceutical business, she was employed and retired from JC Penney in New Orleans. Alzina loved to dance and garden. In addition, she was an avid cook, reader and conversationalist. In her ŌspareĶ time she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and traveling. Alzina was the youngest child of Charles and Ernestine BouttŽ LaSalle. She is survived by her sons, Renaud and Edmond M. BouttŽ of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a niece that she considered a daughter, Bernadette Bondy Wilkinson of Baton Rouge; her godchild, Veranell Parks Sims of Houma; four grandchildren, Robert, Brandon, Edmond II, and Brandy BouttŽ; three great-grandchildren, Joseph, Baylee, and Jaxson; and a loving sister-in-law, Dorothy Collins LaSalle. In addition, she is survived by eight nieces, five nephews, 20 great-nieces, 10 great-nephews, 10 great-great-nieces, and 11 great-great-nephews. Alzina was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Belton R. BouttŽ; her parents, Charles and Ernestine BouttŽ LaSalle; her sisters, Florine (Napoleon) Parks, Ethel (Henry) Wiltz, Grace (John) Washington, and Orlean (Theodore) Bondy; and her only brother, Collins LaSalle. Thanks to Williamsburg Retirement Community and the staffs of Ochsner Hospital Emergency Room and 2nd Floor, Our Lady of the Lake Emergency Room and 5th Floor, SAGE Rehabilitation, CarpenterÕs House, St. JosephÕs Hospice, and Ollie Steele Burden. A special thank-you to Lois Norwood for devoted care during AlzinaÕs brief illness. Her remains were entrusted to Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
