Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2011/sm1108.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011, at 11:30 AM at IbertŐs Mortuary for Darrell Joseph Martin Jr., 63, a Franklin native and longtime resident of Centerville, who passed away at his home on Monday, August 22, 2011, at 5:30 AM following a lengthy, hard fought bout with cancer. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Centerville. Fr. Ruben Primor will officiate the services. He is survived by his wife, Delores Martin; his mother, Ruby Martin; one brother, Greg and his wife Shirley of Oklahoma; five step-children and their spouses, Marie Trahan and her husband Carroll Paul Trahan of Lafayette, Teresa Mach of Abbeville, Tina Latham of Centerville, Frankie D. Mach Jr. and his wife Lori of Texas, and Kristy Hardin and her husband Lance Hardin of Scott; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A very heartfelt thanks to Marie, Teresa, and Tina for all of the love, care, and help that was given to him in his time of need. Special thanks to the Aunts for the cakes and prayers. To Jo Ann Prejean for taking care of our extended four legged family. Thanks to Rachel and Kadie for all of the help at home. The family also extends heartfelt sincerity to Tommy Coleman, Horton Guillotte, and Richard Pillaro for taking him crabbing, riding him around, and whatever else he wanted, and to Ronald Bourgeois for all of his mechanical work. Thanks for all of the prayers and support from the rest of the family and friends, it helped us get through this ordeal in our time of need. Darrell is preceded in death by his father Darrell Martin Sr., his brother Dana Ray Martin, and the love of his life, his great nephew Casey. We owe Darrell Jr. respect and honor for serving his country in Vietnam, 1965- 1969 as a member of the U.S. Army. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday at IbertŐs Mortuary from 8:00 AM until service time. Pallbearers will be Richard Pillaro, Carroll Trahan, Frankie Mach Jr., Jim Bolden, Harold Chandler, and Preston ŇBubbaÓ Burke. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Coleman and Horton Guillotte.
