She was born April 12, 1921, in Morrison Ill., and educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. Mae later attended cosmetology school where she received her beautician license. She married James Pruis on Feb. 27, 1948, in Morrison Ill. He passed away April 18, 1992. Mae was co-owner along with her sister, Betty Hey, of the Betty-Mae Beauty Shop in Morrison, Ill. She also farmed with her late husband in the Morrison and Coleta area, was a school bus driver for R.C. Smith Transportation, and was a dietary aid at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Ill., until retiring in 1986. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, Ill. She was also a member of the Sterling YWCA, where she was known as one of ÒYÓ gals. Mae enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, crafts and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Linda (William) Pettenger of Sterling, Ill.; a son, John L. ÒJ.P.Ó Pruis of Patterson; three grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Janet Tichler of Morrison, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; three sisters; and two brothers. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at Bosma-Renkes Morrison Chapel in Morrison, Ill. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with retired pastor the Rev. Jim Stralow officiating. She will be buried in Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, Ill. Memorials can be made to the AlzheimerÕs Association. ===================
