Simoneaux, 80, a native and resident of Charenton, who passed away Friday, September 16, 2011, at 1:55 PM at his home with his family by his side. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery Mausoleum. Fr. Gregory Cormier will officiate the services. Mr. Norris was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Ida Clements Simoneaux of Charenton; four children, Cynthia S. Buteaux and her husband Bobby of New Iberia, Gisele S. Durocher and her husband Robert of Charenton, Harvey Simoneaux of Charenton, and Melissa S. Cestia and her husband David of New Iberia; eleven grandchildren, Robby Buteaux and his wife Nichole, Rebekah McGee and her husband Sean, Zachary Buteaux and his wife Katrina, Zebulon Buteaux and his wife Rebecca, Rusty Durocher and his wife Angela, Lindsey Landry and her husband Brandon, Jimi Kae and her fiancˇ Justin Sonnier, Aaron Simoneaux, Kara Cestia, Magen Smith and her husband Ricky, and Slade Cestia; 16 great grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Simoneaux and his wife Theresa of Charenton; and one sister, Lucinda S. McElfresh and her husband Wallace of Charenton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wibry Simoneaux, Sr. and Ludy Landry Simoneaux; two brothers, Harvey "Dee Dee" Simoneaux and Wibry "Tut" Simoneaux, Jr.; and one great grandson, Jaden Thomas Buteaux. Standing as pallbearers will be his six grandsons. A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday at the church from 12:00 PM until service time. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the wonderful people with Heart of Hospice, especially Elnora Washington who was with the family from the beginning.
