She was born on August 4, 1938 in Miami, Florida and has been a resident of Patterson, Louisiana for the last 40 years of her life. She previously owned Slone's Dump Truck Service and for the last eight years has enjoyed her part-time work as a travel consultant at Cajun Coast Visitors & Convention Bureau in Franklin. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Morgan City, and was a faithful servant of the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie D. Slone and a son-in-law, Dale Simoneaux. Barbara is survived by her four children, daughters, Leisha Bertrand and her companion, Frank Thibodeaux of Bayou Vista, Louisiana; Torri Simoneaux of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; son, John Bertrand and wife, Melissa of Spring, Texas; and Hollyn Chellette and husband Mark of Berwick, Louisiana. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Dale Simoneaux, Georgette Cuvillier, Samantha Simoneaux, Logan Bertrand, Sydney Bertrand and Alexandra Chellette; and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Norton Stafford and sister-in-law, Peggy Stafford of Houston, Texas; and her constant furry companion, Macie Grace. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, September 23, 2011, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Morgan City from 10:00 AM until Mass time at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Ibert's Memorial Park Cemetery in Patterson. Father Rob Courtney will officiate the services.
