Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Bro. Benji Richard will officiate the services. Mr. Bill, as he was known to many, died on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Woodland Village Nursing Center in Diamondhead, Mississippi. Joseph William Talley was born on November 20, 1919, in Mansfield, Louisiana. Bill graduated from Port Barre High School with Honors where he received the American Legion Award. He then attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute and went on to work for Texaco for 40 years. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, (as he was known as ÒThe Pirogue ManÓ), and refurbishing antique furniture. His real passion was helping people particularly while serving as a long time Deacon for the First Baptist Church of New Iberia. He leaves a loving wife of 71? years, Alida Bryant Talley of Diamondhead, Miss.; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Talley Reaux of Port Barre. Additionally, he leaves two sons, Kenneth Gene ÒKenÓ Talley and wife, Leslie Flynn Talley, of Diamondhead; and Thomas Samuel ÒTomÓ Talley II and wife, Linda Irvin Talley, of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Amanda Stone Talley, Thomas Samuel Talley III, Flynn Bryant Talley, Brett Patrick Talley, Jordon Scott Talley and Christian Hunter Talley; along with four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Samuel Talley and Mamie Pugh Talley of Mansfield, La.; and two brothers, Sam L. Talley and Jack Talley of Port Barre. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home, 402 Saizan Avenue, Port Barre, La. on Sunday, October 2, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. On Monday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. ===================
