WALTHER, WILLIAM ARTHUR ÒBILLÓ 
July 5, 1920 Ñ Sept. 16, 2011

William Arthur ÒBillÓ Walther, 91, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at Life Care 
Center in Littleton, Colo.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at 
All Souls Catholic Church in Englewood, Colo.

Bill was born July 5, 1920, in Berwick to William and Ethel Seeman Walther. He 
graduated from Morgan City High School and attended Louisiana State University, 
graduating in 1941 with a degree in petroleum engineering.

He enlisted in the United States Army in January 1942, serving in Africa, 
France and Germany during World War II. He was awarded the United States Legion 
of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of 
outstanding service during the war. He also was awarded three bronze battle 
stars before leaving active duty in 1945 with the rank of captain.

On Jan. 3, 1943, he married Margaret Allynn Drury at Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church in Morgan City.

Bill spent more than 40 years working in the oil and gas industry. Along with 
other career highlights, he was highly involved in development of the oil 
fields on the north slope of Alaska. His professional career included 
employment with Southern Production Company, Sinclair Oil and Gas, and Atlantic 
Richfield.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Allynn of Littleton, Colo.; son, James 
Walther and wife Joan of Englewood, Colo.; daughters, Lynne Klemke and husband 
Ronald of Oshkosh, Neb., Diane Bakel and husband Ronald of Loveland, Colo., 
Ginger Shearer and husband Robert of Loveland, Colo., and Mary Smith and 
husband Gary of Littleton, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. 
Other survivors include nephews, Gregory Kreider of Houston and Kent Kreider of 
Laurel, Miss.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy W. Kreider; his son, 
William III; and a daughter, Jane.

A memorial in BillÕs honor has been established at the ParkinsonÕs Association 
of the Rockies. Drinkwine Family Mortuary in Littleton, Colo., is in charge of 
arrangements.
