Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2011/sm1110.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Jack Ernest Russell, 78, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at his daughter's home after a brief battle with leukemia. Jack was a 1952 graduate of Morgan City High School and attended LSU majoring in electrical engineering. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. He was employed for over thirty years at Tesoro Petroleum Distributing in Amelia. During his retirement, he enjoyed visiting the library, watching old movies, crossword puzzles, riding his bicycle, and long walks. Jack was a simple quiet man with few needs or wants. He was well known for his not-so-funny jokes. He loved playing games with his two granddaughters who thought of him as their favorite playmate. He surprised them often with dollar store toys and sweet treats. Jack will be remembered as a loving father and a wonderful Poppi to his granddaughters. Survivors include one daughter, Melanie Russell Galliano and husband Clint, of Bayou Blue; two granddaughters, Valerie and Veronica Galliano; two sisters, Vivian Spinella of Ft. Worth, TX, Barbara Russell, of Morgan City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Annie Russell; wife, Joyce Breaux Russell; one sister Betty Russell Grizaffi. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Twin City Funeral Home. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Morgan City Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad. ===================
