Elmer White Carter, 70, a resident and native of Charenton, died Sunday, November 20, 2011, at 4:15 p.m., at Deerbrook Nursing Home in Humble, Texas following a short illness. She is survived by three sons, Burney (Angela) Carter Jr. of Centerville, Robert W. (Tessie) Carter of Houston, Texas and Kevin P. Carter of Charenton, La.; two daughters, Judy A. Cuffee of Curham, North Carolina, and Alida Carter of Charenton; two brothers, Chris White of New Iberia and Roosevelt White of Beaumont, Texas; two sisters, Pearl Fuselier of Port Arthur, Texas and Anna White of Charenton; 23 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. Visitations will be observed Saturday, Nov. 26, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at St. John Baptist Church in Charenton. Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 11 a.m., at that church, with the Rev. Isabella Gaspar officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Cemetery in Charenton. The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations ===================
