Interment will follow in the Kaplan Cemetery. The Rev. Chester Arceneaux will celebrate the Mass. Mrs. Blanc was a native and longtime resident of Kaplan. She was currently residing in Lafayette. She died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Magnolia Estates in Lafayette. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church and said the Rosary often. She was a homemaker who cooked many delicious meals, especially chaudins, cabbage rolls and rice dressing. She would also make homemade pancakes/crepes for breakfast, watermelon preserves and holiday treats. She would tend to the ducks and chickens. We all can remember each of us having to gather eggs from the hen house, picking figs from the trees and putting the quarters into the slot to run the dryer. As a pastime, she loved her rose bushes. She would love to go visiting family and friends. She always made sure she had candy for her visitors. Leaving to cherish her memory are two daughters, Beverly Blanc Mire and husband Marion of Kaplan, and Linda Blanc LeMaire and husband Leo of Scott; two sons, Howard M. “Lovey” Blanc Jr. and wife Michelle of Morgan City, and Raymond Mark Blanc and wife Gladys of Lafayette; and a son-in-law, Larry Faulk of Bayou Vista. Having shared her life with her are 16 grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She also has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Mark Blanc Sr.; a daughter, LouAnna Blanc Faulk; a son, Gerald Mark Blanc; three sisters, Eve Cormier, Anna R. Mouton and Althea “Petit” Bonin; a brother, Adam Roche; a granddaughter-in- law, Cheri Saltzman Mire; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Angelle Blanc. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family visiting hours will be observed at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
