Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 1 p.m., at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Gwendolyn “Gwen” K. Hubbs, 57, who passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Entombment will follow at a later date at the request of Gwen’s family. Pastor Shawn Marcell of Crossroads Church in Lafayette will officiate. Gwen was born Tuesday, June 22, 1954 in Morgan City and was a long time resident of Lafayette. Gwen had a heart big enough to hold love for everyone she met. She was loving, friendly, giving and kind and will forever be in the thoughts and hearts of all that were fortunate enough to have known her. Mrs. Hubbs is survived by her beloved husband of 22 years, Joe Hubbs of Lafayette; her two daughters, Leslie Thibodaux Vercher and her husband, Paul, of Spring, Texas and Tracy Thibodaux Treadway and her husband, Jamie, of Denham Springs; five grandchildren, granddaughters, Brooklin Tardiff and Kallie Stelly and grandsons, Alec and Jace Vercher and Layden Marcell; seven siblings, sisters Katie Harrison of Marrero, Valerie Russell and her husband, E.J., of Picayune, Mississippi, Jane Harris and her husband, Ronnie, of Denham Springs, Gail Fincher and her husband, Jimmie, also of Marrero and Karen Stewart of Bush, La. and brothers Dana and Ricky Kohlmiller, both of Walker, La.; and numerous dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Leonard Kohlmiller and the former Lillian Billiot; and one sister, Linda Thibodaux. Visiting hours at Foundation Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette will be observed on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., and resume Thursday, December 22, 2011, at 10 a.m., until time of services. The family wishes to sincerely thank the ICU staff at Lafayette General Medical Center for the compassionate care given to Gwen and her family.
