Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2011/sm1112.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011, at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption for Abel Joseph Rogers, 87, a Weeks Island native and longtime resident of Franklin, who passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at 5:50 PM at the Franklin Health Care Center. Burial will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services. Abel was a loving and devoted husband and uncle. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign. Survivors include three sisters, Bernice DuBois of Houma, Enola Mars of New Roads, and Anna Trosclair of Franklin; numerous nieces and nephews; and his caregivers, Kimberly Gail and Caitlin Marie Boiteaux. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie Thibodeaux Rogers; his parents, Arthur Rogers and Anna Granger Rogers; two brothers, Nolan Rogers and Minos Rogers; and one sister, Miriam May Rogers. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday at Ibert's Mortuary from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Visiting will resume Saturday at Ibert's from 8:00 AM until 10:45 AM. Pallbearers will be Louis Boiteaux III, Minus Boiteaux, Donald Trosclair, David Boiteaux, Jerry Mars, and Darrell Boiteaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Boiteaux Jr. and Percy Trosclair. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary ===================
