He will await the resurrection at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashton. A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday at the church at 8 a.m. until the time of service. Leonard was a member of Glen Oaks Baptist Church in Baton Rouge under the leadership of the Rev. Gregory Guillory. He was a 1976 graduate of Franklin Senior High School. He later attended Southern University. He served honorably in the United States Air Force. He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Coty Colbert of Jacksonville, Florida; Leonard Joseph Bowie Jr. of Virginia; and Gerald Bowie of Jeanerette; three daughters, Leslie Guerin (Eric) of Baton Rouge; Latisha White of Houston, Texas; and Latoria Bowie of Jeanerette; his mother, Beulah Bowie-Louis and his stepfather, Dandy Louis of Jeanerette; seven aunts, Gwendolyn Bowie of Glencoe, Precious Bowie Joseph (Whitney) of Reserve, La., Patricia Bowie Magee (Howard) of Tangipahoa, La., Virginia “Jennie” Bowie Castle, Fannie Bowie Adams of Baton Rouge, Lessie Bowie Notto (Larry) and Norma Jean Bowie of Glencoe; five uncles, John Henry Bowie Sr. of Franklin, Isaac Bowie (Lillie) Theothilius Andrew Bowie Sr. of Jeanerette, Kenneth Alexander Bowie (Andrea) of Houston, and Carl Allen Bowie of St. Louis, Illinois; one grandchild, Jaylen Colbert of Jacksonville, Florida; two godchildren, Calvin Bowie and Terrell Lemmon; his godmother, Carolyn Brent; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He now joins in glory with his wife of 18 years, Letha “Cookie” C. Bowie; maternal grandparents, Isaac Sr. and Lessie Fentis Bowie; and one uncle, Lawrence E. Bowie. Active pallbearers will be Calvin Bowie, Gerald Bowie, Troy Anthony Bowie, Michael Charles, Rodney Landry Sr., Rodney Landry Jr. and Rondell Landry.
