All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/copyright.shtml ======================================================================= NOTE: If a Photo is available for an obituary record, a reference note will be included with the record. ======================================================================= BROTHER EDWIN (THOMAS EMILE) ‘NED’ GRILLET, FSC Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in De La Salle Chapel for Brother Edwin (Thomas Emile) “Ned” Grillet, FSC, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2011 in Covington, La. after an extended illness. He was 97 years of age. Interment will be held in De La Salle Cemetery. The Rev. Edward Degeyter will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Aimee H. Grillet of Houma; a niece, Joan G. Adams and her husband, Jody, of Franklin; nephew, J. Paul Grillet and wife, Cindy; and nephew, Thomas A. Grillet; grand niece, Jo Elizabeth Adams; grand nephews, William J. Adams and wife, Danielle; grand nephew, John R. Adams and grand nephew, Sean Grillet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose Grillet and the former Catherine Taylor of Centerville; and two brothers, A. William (Bill) Grillet Jr. and John Joseph Grillet. He entered the Junior Novitiate of the De La Salle Christian Brothers in Lafayette in 1927. He received the habit of the Brothers on August 14, 1931 and made final profession of vows on August 24, 1939. Edwin began his teaching career at Landry Memorial School in Lake Charles, Cathedral High School in El Paso, Texas, Kirwin High School in Galveston, Texas, Scholasticate in Las Vegas, NM, Mullen High School in Denver, Colorado, Cathedral High School in Lafayette, and in 1955 he was at De La Salle High School in New Orleans as bookkeeper and librarian. He retired at De La Salle Christian Brothers in Lafayette in 1999. In October 2011, he was moved to St. Paul’s Community in Covington, where within a few short months he passed away. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be observed on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at De La Salle Chapel.
