Whalen was retired from Texaco Floodway Plant, after 32 years of dedicated service. Whalen enjoyed hunting and the outdoors; but most of all he cherished his family and the time they spent together, and cooking. Whalen is survived by his wife of 50 years Patricia Swain Kiffe of Bayou Vista, one son Chris Kiffe and his wife Becky of Patterson; two daughters Kristi Carriere and her husband Duane of Bayou Vista, and Penny Adams and her husband Ronny of Bayou Vista; one brother Robert Kiffe of Berwick; eight grandchildren Josh Kiffe, Orry Kiffe, Shawn Kiffe, Kristin Percle, Derek Carriere, Megan Sampey, Taylor Adams, and Lindell Adams; four great-grandchildren Sydney Sampey, Maddox Sampey, Jardyn Kiffe, and Lalah Kiffe; and numerous relatives and friends. Whalen is preceded in death by his parents Tarlton & Katie Kiffe; one brother Burt Kiffe; and one son Lindell Kiffe. A time of remembrance and reflection will be observed Sunday, January 15, 2012, at Hargrave Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm; and will continue Monday, January 16, 2012 at the funeral home from 8:00 am until dismissal at 10:30 am; with services at 11:00 am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista. Whalen will be laid to rest in the Berwick Mausoleum. ===================
