Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2012/sm1202.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Crossing Place Fellowship in Franklin for Jorge "George" Luis Rodriguez, Sr., 53, a McAllen, TX native and 33 year resident of Franklin, who passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 1:00 AM at Our Lady Of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Burial will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery in Franklin. Pastor Brad Bullock will officiate the services. Jorge had completed the Sheriff's Office Basic Training and Field in Service Training Courses at Louisiana State University. He was certified in Peace Officers Standard and Training Council, participated in a Shoot, Don't Shoot course and received several letters of recognition and recommendation. He was a member of the Louisiana Peace Officer's Association, Magnolia State Peace Officer's Association, and Narcotic Officer's Association. He had also been a member of the Franklin Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce and a past Board Member for the Boys and Girls Club of the Bayou Teche Region. He was very active in many local civic and business affairs. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Maria Garcia Rodriguez of Franklin; two sons, Robert Rodriguez of Lafayette and David Rodriguez and his wife Sabrina of Franklin; one brother, Steve Rodriguez and his wife Paula of Jacksonville, Texas; his father, Julio Rodriguez of Berley, Idaho; his mother, Adelina G. Sarabia of Franklin; three half-brothers, Cipriano Alvarez, of Tyler, Texas, Julio Rodriguez, Jr. of Berley, Idaho, and Andrew Rodriguez and his wife and family of Boise, Idaho; one half-sister, Eulalia Rodriguez of Oxnard, California; his mother-in-law, Vicenta L. Garcia of Mission, Texas; two grandsons, Carter Cain Rodriguez and Mason Lee Rodriguez of Franklin; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, George L. Rodriguez, Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Maria S. Garza and Juan Garza; his paternal grandparents, Martin and Manuela Rodriguez; and his father-in-law, Favian T. Garcia. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, February 28, at the Crossing Place Fellowship in Franklin from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and again Wednesday from 9:00 AM until service time at 10:00 AM. Pallbearers will be Robert Rodriguez, David Rodriguez, Robert Wilkerson, Ned Davis, Rogelio Guzman, Jr., and Juan Garza. Acting as honorary pallbearers will be Steve Rodriguez, Dana C.
