Elizabeth “Liz” Taylor Rogers, 54, a long time resident of Berwick, passed away 
Sunday February 5, 2012 at her home in Berwick.

Liz was born February 05, 1958 in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana the daughter of 
James Taylor and Rita Young Taylor.

Liz was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and will be sadly missed and 
lovingly remembered by her husband of 33 years Richard Rogers of Berwick, three 
sons Kristopher and wife Elyse Rogers of Morgan City, Brian Rogers of 
Lafayette, and Tyler Rogers of Berwick. Two grandchildren, Eian and Riley 
Rogers of Morgan City. She leaves four sisters and three brothers, Glenda 
Fountain of Baton Rouge, James and wife Karen Taylor of Mansfield, Joel and 
wife Linda Taylor of Morgan City, Rita and husband Mike Spiker of Orlando, 
Florida, Cheryl Chausow of Lafayette, Charles and wife Carmel of Baton Rouge, 
Terri and husband Douglas Theall of Katy, Texas, sister-in-laws Joan Taylor of 
Mansfield and Crystal Bollinger of New Iberia and numerous nieces and nephews. 
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Taylor and Rita Young Taylor and 
one brother Dr. Donald Taylor.

Liz graduated from Morgan City High School and attended Nichols State 
University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary 
education.

Liz was a 30 year employee of St Mary Parish School Board. She spent the 
majority of those years as a special education teacher at Berwick Junior High 
School. Liz loved, cared for, nurtured and educated many, many special needs 
children in the tri city area. Liz loved her children and they made her smile 
each and every day.

Liz taught Catechism for special education children at Holy Cross Catholic 
Church. She was the Coordinator of the St. Mary Parish Special Olympics Bowling 
Tournament, where she was certified in bowling, track and field, gymnastics, 
softball, poly hockey, and lead up basketball. Liz was very dedicated to all 
special education children and was committed to make sure that they had the 
opportunity to compete on the local and state level.

A full mass will be held at 11am on Saturday February 11, 2012 at Holy Cross 
Catholic Church. Visitations will be held from 6pm to 9pm on Friday February 
10, 2012 at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City with a rosary being recited 
at 7pm. Visitation will resume at 9am until 10:30am at the funeral home. 
Liz will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be all of her nephews, David Murphy, Peyton Murphy, Jason 
Taylor, Andrew Davidson, Robert Baker II, Cody Taylor, honorary pallbearers 
will be, Donald Taylor, Bruce Taylor, Lee J Taylor, Dan Taylor and Justin 
Taylor.

The family wishes to thank the many friends, neighbors and co-workers who 
helped to make her last days peaceful with their generous prayers and 
donations. A special thank you to Journey Hospice of Houma (especially Grace, 
Tracy, Debbie and Collette) for being so gentle and kind to Liz and her family.
