May 4, 1924 - February 6, 2012 Prudhome Joseph "P.J." Trahan, died on Monday, February 6, 2012, at the age of 87. He is survived by "his bride" of 66 years, Frances Fournier Trahan. He is also survived by three daughters, Alice Bourg of Algiers, Kathie Martin (Chick) of Golden Meadow, and Fran Love (Kyle) of Lafayette; seven super grandchildren, Francoise D. Cohen, Annie Bourg, Beau Martin, Nate' R. Anson, Jean Paul Martin, Collins Bourg, and "Tray" Bourg; his elite eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Beulah Martin (Edward) of Franklin, and Jeanette Breaux (L.J.) of Kiln, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice B. and Euzebe H. Trahan; and one brother, Ira Trahan of Franklin. Upon graduating from Hanson Memorial in 1943, he entered the US Navy and served on the USS Belle Grove – LSD II during WW II. Mr. Trahan retired from Exxon with 43 years of dedicated service, most of which were spent on Grand Isle where he was a pioneer in the offshore drilling industry. He later was an Inland Drilling Superintendent in the New Orleans office. After retiring he became the CEO of Chick's Bait Shop in Golden Meadow for 15 years. He was also a faithful attendee of Manresa Retreat House for the past 43 years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at the Church of the Assumption, 915 Main St., Franklin, LA, 70538, on Friday, February 10. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Louis Richard celebrating the Mass. Interment immediately following in the Franklin Cemetery. A celebratory reception honoring his life will be held immediately following interment.
